The technical clean-up is only part of it. There is usually a search listing to tidy, a browser warning to get lifted, customers who saw something odd, and a backup you need to trust before you restore it.
A restore on its own is rarely enough. If the backup predates the break-in you lose real work; if it postdates it you restore the malware along with the site. WordPress hack recovery means choosing carefully, then closing the entry point so the same restore does not have to happen twice.
Plan the boring parts before you need them. Know where the backups are, know how far back they go, and know who can put the site back if you are somewhere with no signal. Write down the hosting login, the domain registrar and where the DNS is managed. An incident is a bad time to find out that the only person with access left two years ago.
